When Plymouth Gin approached Fieldwork with a fantastic opportunity and an open brief to ‘think creatively’, we really pushed the boat out. This is apt really as Plymouth Gin was the first standard-issue gin for Her Majesty’s Navy and features the Mayflower on its label.
Plymouth had secured a promotional space at LHR Terminal 5, to relaunch the historic gin brand, but beyond that had yet to develop a definitive brand platform.
Inspired by the copper pot still dating back to 1793, Fieldwork created a brand personality, enhanced by the heritage and quality of the product. We designed a large copper bar, where bartenders invited travellers to smell the complex range botanicals, then sample the gin.
Results were phenomenal. Sales exceeded forecasts by over 300% and some 3500 passengers sampled Plymouth Gin over the four-week promotional period. Our design was highly praised by the CEO, Christian Porta, as ‘best in class’, whilst Plymouth Gin proved itself to be ‘best in glass’.
